The Agony of Xmas
Saturday 12 December 2015 Joak Radio MarathonListen Now
In
this broadcast we aim to reconcile our desire for 'ecstasy' through
our psycho-social sonic musical practice. Perhaps our desire to
formulate new ideas, and to produce “meaningful” radiophonic
broadcasts, represents a quest to understand this ambiguous
re-conciliation, to unravel the screwed up human condition in the
light of our societies racist, sexist, homophobic, class ridden yet
comfortable perception of and towards ecstasy; or to justify our
embarrassing acceptance and role in the fucked up greater patriarchal
capitalist design and musical network. As artists we perhaps have no
other choice, or have many choices? Does the potential for ecstasy
justify embarking on this agonizing journey. One thing is possible:
Agony is a constant bedfellow and we are perhaps nothing if we do not
try to reconcile this difference.
